For this project, I picked a company that I believed could benefit from a website redesign. I picked Jeni’s Ice Cream, an American ice cream brand recognized for their unique and gourmet flavors, while using high-end, fresh ingredients. Jeni's features both an online and in-person shopping experience.

The goal of this project was to create an e-commerce site for an existing brand, Jeni’s, that reflects the spirit and brand. The website should encompass the brand’s current identity in a more accurate way. For Jeni’s, their website didn’t reflect the fun and playful nature of their branding.

One of the biggest challenges I faced with this project was determining how to make the website fun and playful, but also professional. A lot of Jeni’s packaging incorporates bold and bright colors, but over-used on a website they would become chaotic or illegible. Another challenge was maintaining the brand identity that makes Jeni’s unique, while changing to a new website design. I wanted to transform their brand into a more eye-catching website.
The first step of my process included researching websites that utilize unique web techniques. From there, I made sketches of possible layouts and organization strategies. After that, I began developing all of the pages of my website in Figma. This included several landing screen options and different layouts. When I settled on a design I was happy with, I began building my website. I started with the upper navigation bar, moved to the home page, and then finalized the bottom navigation bar. From there, I moved from page to page until all of my pages were complete.
The result?
The intended results for this project would be for Jeni’s to have redesigned website that reflects the spirit of the brand. It would be the kind of website that makes customers want to look through the different pages and see what Jeni’s have to offer. This newly rebranded website would improve online sales. For my personal results, this project strengthened my skills and web design experience. I strive to make projects that are creative and eye-catching, since many brands have fallen into a more minimal approach.
