SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
TYPOGRAPHY
For this project, I selected a B-Corporation to develop a social sustainability report about. I chose King Bag London, a company that uses sustainable practices to make reusable bags out of recycled materials. Kind bag utilitizes a variety of bright and vibrant patterns, as well as artist collaborations.
The goal of this project was to create a 24-page booklet about a B-Corporation of our choosing. My B-Corporation was Kind Bag London, a company that specializes in ethically made bags using environmentally friendly materials. The goal of the booklet is to talk about the company, what products they sell, and what they’re doing that contributes to them being a b-corp. The booklet should highlight the bright and colorful patterns, while showcasing their unique role as a b-corp.
One of the biggest challenges was determining what information about the company to include in the booklet. The booklet should highlight the brand, without losing the importance of them being a b-corp. Another challenge was determining a logical order and layout for the content. I had to create a guide with what spreads contained each aspect of information. A final challenge was maintaining consistency throughough the booklet so that the book flowed cohesively.
The first step to creating my booklet was selecting a B-Corporation. From there, I compiled various information including what products they sell, their b-corp score, and what materials they use. I then used a template to layout what information would go onto each page. Next, I made 3 different spread variations to decide what style to use for my final booklet. After deciding on a layout, color combination, and type pairing, I designing my book using InDesign. After several rounds of printing and reviewing, I printed my final book and assembled it with a glue binding.
The result?
The result of this project was a comprehensive book that details Kind Bag London’s practices and products. The book can both show and tell the reader what makes the company unique and why you should support the company. This booklet allowed me to gain a deeper understanding about publication design, grid systems, and collation.
